# Sync cameras by sound and cut between them

> For interviews, podcasts, weddings and events: no clapperboard needed. CutLuma matches the recordings by their sound, then you cut between the angles like a live director.

Line up two or more cameras, or a camera and a sound recorder, by their sound. Then cut between angles with the number keys or automatically by who is speaking. Free.

## How it works

1. **Add every recording** — Put each camera, and your separate sound recorder if you used one, on the timeline and select them.
2. **Sync by sound** — Press Ctrl+K and choose “Sync clips by sound”. Each clip moves to the right moment, with a confidence so a bad match is never applied.
3. **Cut between angles** — Open the multicam viewer and press 1 to 9 while it plays, or let it follow whoever is speaking. Move or remove any cut later.

## Why CutLuma for this

- **Nothing is cut up** — Angles stay whole and in sync; a cut list decides which one shows. Change your mind as often as you like.
- **Better sound** — Replace the camera sound with the recorder’s in one click, or keep one camera’s microphone under every angle.
- **Finish your way** — Flatten the cuts into ordinary clips to grade, trim and title them, or hand the edit to an AI agent.

## FAQ

**Is it free?**

Yes, on every plan.

**How many cameras?**

Up to nine angles in one multicam.

**Do the recordings need a clap?**

No. Any shared sound works: speech, music, room noise. Recordings with no sound in common are refused instead of guessed.

**My recorder drifts on long takes**

The drift is measured and shown. On a long take the ends can be a frame or more out; splitting the take and syncing each part fixes it.
