The cousins’ knockout cup at the istiraha as a two-sided marker bracket in Gulf dialect (16:9): eight names in the quarter-finals, losers struck out in red with handwritten excuses (mum called, “the controller is broken”), the semis and the final filling in, then a lime band: the champion is the eleven-year-old. The loser washes the dinner dishes. Drop in the champion’s photo and retype the names.
