Free online YouTube video editor
Cut your footage, add titles, music and captions, and export a 16:9 MP4 ready to upload — all in a browser tab, with nothing to install.
Made for YouTube
A YouTube video is usually 16:9 at 1920 × 1080, and that is the size a new project starts at. Drag in your clips, cut the slow parts with S and Shift+Delete, and put b-roll, titles and music on their own tracks. The whole timeline stays editable, so you can rework the opening after you have watched it back.
Viewers decide quickly whether to stay, so get to the point early and use on-screen text to signpost each section. Captions help as well, because plenty of people watch on a phone with the sound low. AI captions are part of the paid plans, and every caption is a text clip you can correct or restyle.
Free exports are 720p with a small watermark. The Starter plan removes the watermark and exports 1080p; Pro and Business go up to 4K. Either way you get an MP4 file, which you upload in YouTube Studio yourself. Want a Short from the same footage too? Switch the project to 9:16 and drag to reframe.

Tools that help
Questions? Answers.
Is this YouTube video editor free?
Yes. Editing, titles, music, transitions and exporting are free; free exports are 720p with a small watermark. Paid plans remove the watermark, raise the resolution and add AI features such as captions.
Do I need to download anything?
No. It runs in a browser tab — desktop Chrome or Edge work best, and Firefox works too. Your project saves itself as you go.
What size should a YouTube video be?
16:9, usually 1920 × 1080 (1080p) or 3840 × 2160 (4K). New projects start at 1920 × 1080, so the shape is right from the first cut.
Can I upload straight to YouTube from the editor?
Not directly. Export the MP4, then upload it in YouTube Studio, where you add the title, description and thumbnail.
Can I make a thumbnail here?
You can save any frame of your project as a PNG, so set up a strong frame with big, readable text first. YouTube recommends 1280 × 720 for thumbnails. On the free plan, saved frames carry the same small watermark as exports.
