How it works

Three steps, a couple of minutes

Record the task

Record your screen in the browser or with the Chrome extension, or drop in a recording you already have. Talk it through if you want the steps written for you.

Generate the guide

Clicks are found in the recording itself. Each one becomes a step with a screenshot taken just before the click and a ring around what was clicked.

Edit and share

Fix the wording, add arrows, boxes or a blur, then share the link or export PDF, Word, Markdown or HTML.

Why it works

Why use CutLuma for this

Works on any app

Clicks are detected from the picture, in your browser, so a recording of any program or website works, with or without the extension.

Screenshots you can still edit

Rings, boxes, arrows, numbers, labels and crops stay editable. A blur is baked into the shared picture, so what it hides stays hidden.

Free without AI, faster with it

The screenshots-only guide is free. On a paid plan AI writes the titles and instructions from what you said, as a how-to, an SOP, a training lesson and more.

FAQ

Questions? Answers.

Is it free?

Yes. A free account makes guides from the clicks in a recording, keeps 5 guides and exports every format. Having AI write the steps from your narration is part of the paid plans.

Do I need to install an extension?

No. Recording and click detection work in Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers on a computer. The extension is only a shortcut for starting a recording.

Which formats can I export?

PDF, Word (.docx), Markdown with the pictures, a single HTML file, and rich text to paste into Notion, Confluence or Google Docs.

Can I hide private information?

Draw a blur over it on the screenshot. The shared and exported pictures are redrawn with that area pixelated, so the original is never sent to readers.
