About CutLuma

CutLuma is a free online video editor that runs in your web browser. It is one place to record, edit, caption, translate and publish a video, with nothing to install.

What CutLuma is

CutLuma opens in a browser tab on Windows, Mac, Chromebook or Linux; desktop Chrome and Edge work best, and Firefox works too. You record your screen and camera or drop in your own clips, edit on a multi-track timeline, and export an MP4. The video is rendered on your own computer, and your projects and media are saved to your account so you can pick them up on another device or share them with a link.

The editor, the dashboard and this site are available in 8 languages: English, العربية, Español, Français, Português, Deutsch, Türkçe and Bahasa Indonesia. The template gallery has 5012 animated templates written in 15 languages, Arabic and other right-to-left scripts included.

What you can do with it

  • CutLuma Studio: watch your film before you pay for it. Describe a film in any language. An AI director plans the shots, the look and the lines on screen, every shot gets a still frame, and pressing play shows the whole film moving. A budget slider then decides which shots become real AI video with Google Veo 3.1 Lite, Gemini Omni Flash or Veo 3.1. Films run up to about 3 minutes and 30 shots, grouped in scenes. Replace mode swaps one thing in a video you already have: a product, an object or a building in drone footage. Open the result in the editor as a normal project. Free accounts get 3 storyboards a day; a frame costs 5¢ and video starts at 30¢ for a 4-second shot, paid from generation credit.
  • Magic Clips: a link in, viral shorts out. Paste a YouTube link or drop a podcast and pick the part to use. AI understands it first, then cuts the moments that work on their own (hook, setup, payoff), scores each one and edits it for TikTok, Reels and Shorts: the camera cuts to whoever is talking (or split screen for two), eased zooms on the payoff, a cold open with the best line, AI pictures over the talk, filler words and pauses cut, captions with key words coloured (plus a second language), emoji and big-number pop-ups, mood music that ducks under speech, sound effects, bleeped swear words, a colour look, your brand kit, an end card, three headline options, ready post copy, and a cover and YouTube thumbnail for every clip (best frame, speaker cut out, big text). 9:16, 4:5 or 1:1; Viral, Podcast and Clean styles.
  • Text to video. Type a topic: AI writes the script, makes a picture for each scene, reads it aloud and adds captions.
  • Magic Design. Describe your video in one sentence. AI picks four matching templates and writes every line for your topic.
  • Magic Media. Type what you want to see and AI makes the picture — photo, 3D, illustration, anime, watercolour and more.
  • Magic Edit. Change a photo by asking: a new background, night instead of day, another colour. The rest stays as it was.
  • Magic Resize. Turn a Reel into a YouTube video or a square post. The design re-arranges itself — no cropping, no squashing.
  • Magic Write. Make any text catchier, shorter or more formal, translate it, or rewrite a whole design for a new topic.
  • Translate a whole video. Every text on screen and every caption translated in one click, into 17 languages, with fonts that fit the new script. Translate this video, or get one copy per language at once.
  • The editor in 8 languages. Use CutLuma in English, Arabic (right to left), Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Turkish or Indonesian. Pick yours from the globe menu.
  • Magic Animate. Animate the whole design in one of nine styles. Every element enters in reading order, staggered for you.
  • Auto reframe. Filmed wide, posting tall? The camera finds the people and follows them — holds, glides and cuts with the shot.
  • Edit video as text. Transcribe once, then edit by editing the words: delete a sentence and it is cut from every track. One click removes um/uh, long pauses and repeated takes.
  • AI assistant. Tell the editor what you want — “add captions, cut the pauses and make it 9:16” — in English, Arabic or Spanish. It does it, explains what changed, and one Undo takes it all back.

The full list is on the home page, and every job has its own page under free tools.

Who it is for

People who make video without a film crew: creators, teachers, marketers, small businesses, estate agents, podcasters. There is a page for each platform and job: YouTube, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, LinkedIn, Chromebook, Windows, Mac, Small business, Teachers, Podcasts, Real estate, Marketing, Gaming.

What it costs

The editor is free, with a small watermark on free exports. Paid plans remove the watermark, raise the limits and include a monthly allowance for the AI features. Every plan, with its price and limits, is on the pricing page.

For AI assistants and developers

CutLuma is built to be read by software as well as by people. /llms.txt is a plain-text map of the site, every content page is also available as Markdown (add .md to its address), and there is a Model Context Protocol server at https://cutluma.com/mcp and a read-only JSON API for finding templates, tools, video sizes and prices. No sign-in is needed for any of them.
