Overview

Made for Gaming

Gaming footage usually starts long: a session saved from your console, a capture app on your PC or a stream recording. Drop the file in, find the moment on the filmstrip timeline and trim everything around it. Step one frame at a time with the arrow keys to cut right on the shot.

Gameplay is 16:9, but Shorts, TikTok and Reels are 9:16. Switch the canvas to vertical and choose: fill the frame and drag to keep the action centred, or fit the whole 16:9 picture in the middle on a coloured background, with room for a title above and captions below.

The built-in screen recorder can capture a browser game, a window or your whole screen in Chrome or Edge, but it records at up to 30 frames per second and isn’t made for fast-paced play. For competitive footage, record with your usual capture tool and bring the file here — you can still export at 60 fps.

How it works

Three steps, a few minutes

Drop in your recording

MP4 works best. If your recorder saves MKV, remux or convert it to MP4 first.

Cut to the highlight

Trim, split with S, speed up the walk back and slow down the big moment.

Add text and export

Titles, captions, music and stickers, then export 16:9 for YouTube or 9:16 for Shorts and TikTok.

Features

Why CutLuma works for Gaming

Frame-accurate trimming

Step frame by frame with the arrow keys and split with S to cut exactly on the play.

Slow-mo and fast-forward

Split a clip and give each piece its own speed, from 0.1× slow motion to 100× fast-forward.

Vertical highlights

Reframe 16:9 gameplay to 9:16, or fit it in the middle with a title above and captions below.

Text, stickers and effects

Animated titles, emoji stickers, shapes, transitions and a progress bar.

Facecam over gameplay

Put a webcam clip on the track above your footage, mask it to a circle and add a border — or remove its background with AI.

FAQ

Questions? Answers.

Is this gaming video editor free?

Yes. Trimming, speed, text, transitions and exporting are free; free exports are 720p with a small watermark. Paid plans remove the watermark, export in 1080p or 4K, and add AI captions.

Can I record gameplay with it?

The screen recorder captures a window or your screen in Chrome or Edge at up to 30 fps, which suits commentary and slower games. For fast games, record with your console or a capture app and import the file.

Can I export at 60 fps?

Yes. Choose 24, 30 or 60 fps when you export. 60 fps looks smoothest when your recording was 60 fps to begin with.

How do I make a gaming clip vertical?

Switch the format to 9:16, then fill the frame and drag to follow the action, or fit the full picture in the middle with text above and below.

Can I add my facecam?

Yes. Put your webcam recording on the track above the gameplay, then crop it, mask it to a circle or rounded corners, and add a border.
