A free Filmora alternative you do not have to install
Filmora is a friendly desktop editor from Wondershare. CutLuma brings most of what beginners use it for — timeline, keyframes, green screen, titles, transitions, captions, a recorder — into a browser tab, with templates in three languages and nothing to download.
CutLuma vs Filmora
In short. Switch if you want to edit on any computer without installing anything, work from templates in English, Arabic or Spanish, record your screen in the same tool, or share with a link instead of a file. Stay with Filmora if you want the depth of a desktop editor — its large effects and plug-in catalogue, offline editing, hardware-heavy projects — and are happy to buy a licence.
Filmora is Wondershare's consumer video editor for Windows and macOS, with phone versions too. It is known for being easier than Premiere while still offering a real timeline, keyframes, motion tracking, a large effects and transitions store and a growing set of AI tools. It is a paid product with a free trial; the trial has historically watermarked exports, and some AI features use credits — as of 2026, check their site for current terms.
CutLuma gives you a comparable beginner-to-intermediate toolkit without an installer: a multi-track timeline with snapping, keyframe animation, transitions, filters, green screen and AI background removal, speed changes with pitch-corrected sound, freeze frames, Ken Burns, 134 fonts and animated titles, 660+ templates in English, Arabic and Spanish, Canva-style design tools, a studio screen recorder with camera bubble and auto-zoom, stock media, AI captions in 17 languages, transcript editing and share links with a branded player. Exports render on your computer up to 4K; a free account needs no credit card.
What you give up: Filmora is a native app, so it edits offline, handles very long or very heavy projects more comfortably, and its effects, plug-in and motion-tracking catalogue is deeper. CutLuma needs an internet connection and a desktop browser, has no phone app, puts its AI features in paid plans with a monthly AI-time allowance, and watermarks free 1080p exports.

Questions? Answers.
Is CutLuma a free Filmora alternative?
Yes. The editor, templates, design tools and recorder are free, with 1080p exports that carry a small watermark. Paid plans remove the watermark, add 60 fps and 4K, and include the AI features.
Can I import a Filmora project into CutLuma?
No. Export the finished video as MP4 from Filmora and import it into CutLuma. Project files are not compatible.
Does CutLuma have keyframes and green screen?
Yes. Set two keyframes and anything moves, scales, rotates or fades between them; key out a green backdrop or let AI remove a webcam background.
Can I edit offline?
No. CutLuma needs an internet connection for saving and loading, though rendering itself happens on your computer. Filmora is the better choice for offline editing.
