Free video intro templates and hooks
Openers that earn the next three seconds: kinetic text hooks, countdowns, title cards, logo reveals and end screens for any channel.
About these templates
The first two seconds decide whether a video is watched, and the last five decide whether the next one is. This category covers both ends: kinetic text hooks for short-form, “wait for the end” and “read this first” openers, a 3-2-1 countdown, film-style title cards, Swiss and Bauhaus poster titles, a breaking-news bar, a glitch logo reveal for YouTube intros and end screens with space for subscribe cards. Formats include 9:16 for Shorts and Reels and 16:9 for YouTube.
Intros are the templates people most often reuse, so these are built to be rebranded once and kept. Change the name and tagline, set your two colours, trim the animation to the length you want and save the project. Then drop the intro at the head of every edit and the end screen at the tail. For short-form, pair a hook template with your clip underneath: the text carries the promise while the footage shows the proof.

Make them work harder
Write the hook as a promise or a question
Hooks work when they tell the viewer what they will get or ask something they want answered. “3 mistakes that cost me a client” beats “Welcome back to the channel” every time.
Trim the intro shorter than you think
A channel intro should run two to four seconds. Drag the end of the template in on the timeline; the animation still plays and the viewer gets to the content sooner.
Match the intro to the thumbnail
Use the same colours and typeface in the intro template as in your thumbnails. The viewer who clicked sees continuity, which reads as quality.
Questions? Answers.
Are the intro templates free?
Yes. Edit and export any intro or hook template with a free account; free exports are 1080p with a small watermark, and paid plans remove it.
Can I add my own logo to an intro template?
Yes. Upload a PNG or SVG as an image, place it on its own layer and apply an animation preset, or replace the text in the logo-reveal template with your name.
Which size should I use?
Use 16:9 intros for YouTube videos and 9:16 hooks for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Magic Resize converts a design between the two.
How long should a video intro be?
Two to five seconds. The templates are built short, and you can trim them further on the timeline.
